In the early hours of Wednesday, major fires erupted at the renowned Gulati restaurant in Pandara market and a factory in Delhi's Narela Industrial area, according to fire department officials. Around 1:30 am, fifteen fire tenders were dispatched to the Block-G polyethene manufacturing factory in Narela, where the cooling process extended well into the day.

As per the Delhi Fire Service, the blaze ignited among plastic granules and finished materials stored on the ground, first and second floors of the factory. Concurrently, a fire at the Pandara Park restaurant saw deployment of five fire brigade vehicles, successfully bringing the situation under control.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in either incident. The restaurant fire originated in the seating area and spread to the first floor. Residents of two government flats located above the restaurant reported significant damages. Jagmati, one of the residents, criticized the restaurant for lacking safety measures.

'The fire began at Gulati restaurant and spread to the first floor. Both NDMC flats were extensively damaged, including electrical appliances,' said Jagmati. Satish Kumar, another affected resident, recounted how his family faced suffocation from the blaze and had to evacuate immediately.

'We felt suffocation due to the fire and had to run with the children. All roads were blocked and no safety precautions were evident,' he added. On July 15, Delhi Fire Service had also managed to extinguish a fire in a multi-story building in Mayur Vihar Phase 2.

The Mayur Vihar fire damaged a uniform manufacturing shop and a cafe near the Neelam Mata Temple. (ANI)
