Zelenskiy Plans Second Global Peace Summit on Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced plans to host a second international peace summit on Ukraine in November, with potential participation from Russian representatives. The initial summit, held in Switzerland, discussed issues such as food security and the release of POWs. Zelenskiy also highlighted the military's need for more F-16 fighter jets and expanded training facilities.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Monday plans to prepare a comprehensive strategy by November to facilitate a second international summit focusing on peace in Ukraine. Zelenskiy stressed the importance of Russian representation at this summit.
The first summit, held last month in Switzerland, welcomed delegates from 92 nations to discuss Ukraine's peace strategy. Russia, which initiated its invasion in February 2022, was notably absent and dismissed the event's relevance.
Zelenskiy's remarks followed his visit to Washington for the NATO summit, where he articulated the necessity of including Russian representatives in future discussions. This comes amid increasing military tensions, with Ukraine bolstered by Western arms and anticipating additional F-16 fighter jets.
