Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced that the Tehri Hydro Power Complex (THPC) will soon reach its full capacity of generating 2400 MW of electricity, with the completion of a 1000 MW pumped storage plant.

Civil works on the pumped storage plant (PSP) are almost finished, and the commissioning of the project's first two units is expected in August. During his inspection, Khattar highlighted the importance of hydropower in addressing climate change and ensuring energy security for the nation.

Khattar praised the accomplishments of THDC India Limited (THDCIL) and urged continued technical excellence. THPC, a multi-purpose project on the Bhagirathi River, stores surplus monsoon water for irrigation and drinking purposes while generating power. THDCIL Chairman RK Vishnoi confirmed the imminent completion and stressed the company's commitment to sustainable energy for India.
