The border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh on Monday committed to reducing incidents of assaults on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel by trans-border criminals from Bangladesh. Both nations agreed to collective efforts, including boosting coordinated patrols, especially during late hours, and educating the border population on the sanctity of the International Border, according to a BSF statement.

These decisions were made during the Sector Commander-level meeting at Border Outpost Hili, under the Raiganj Sector of North Bengal Frontier in West Bengal's Dakshin Dinajpur district. The meeting reiterated the need for joint efforts to uphold human rights and curb border violence.

The BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) delegates committed to enhancing their partnership through increased joint patrolling, vigilance, public awareness programs, socio-economic initiatives, and real-time information sharing. They aim to bring border-related deaths to zero through mutual cooperation.

The Indian delegation was led by Mohinder Singh, DIG, Sector Commander, Raiganj, while the Bangladesh delegation was headed by Md Ariful Haque, Sector Commander, Dinajpur. Discussions covered various aspects of bilateral interaction.

The robust cooperation systems between the border forces ensure effective border management. Key decisions were made to promote a lasting, mutually beneficial relationship. Commanders vowed to implement these resolutions at the ground level in good faith.
