The luxury car owned by controversial IAS Officer Pooja Khedkar has been seized for inspection by the Chaturshrangi Police Station in Pune. The vehicle, driven by a member of the Khedkar family, is currently held at the station's traffic division for scrutiny and verification of its documents.
Authorities have removed the beacon and 'Maharashtra Administration' markings from the car. Khedkar, a 2023 batch IAS officer with an All India Rank of 841 in the UPSC exam, recently sparked controversy by using her private Audi with a red-blue beacon and VIP number plate, alongside demanding facilities unavailable to probationary officers.
Further allegations suggest that Khedkar used fake disability and Other Backward Class (OBC) certificates to pass the civil services exam. Reports also indicate she provided a mental illness certificate. In April 2022, she was directed to report to AIIMS Delhi for verifying her disability document but she cited a COVID infection and did not comply.
On Thursday, the central government set up a single-member committee to investigate Khedkar's candidature and related claims following the controversy over her misuse of authority as a civil servant. The committee, chaired by a senior Additional Secretary, is expected to submit its findings within two weeks.
Khedkar has declined to comment, stating she is not authorized to speak on the issue. (ANI)
