Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, claimed victory in the Dehra assembly by-election, defeating Hoshyar Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by more than 9,000 votes. This victory further bolsters Congress's presence in the state.

Speaking on the triumph, Kamlesh Thakur attributed the win to the relentless efforts of party leaders and workers, and to the support of the Dehra constituency's residents. Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the win as a response to the political poaching experienced in the state and praised the electorate for their awareness and resolve.

Celebrations erupted in Dhaliara, Kangra district, as Congress supporters marked the victory. In Nalagarh, Congress candidate Hardeep Singh Bawa is leading against BJP's KL Thakur. The only bright spot for BJP is in Hamirpur, where Ashish Sharma is ahead by a slim margin. The by-elections, held after independent legislators switched allegiance to BJP, also saw key results in Punjab and West Bengal.
