Assam Rifles on Friday organized the inaugural Assam Rifles Annual Women's Football Tournament, branded as the 'Sentinels Cup,' for teams across the northeastern states. Seven women's football teams from Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Assam Rifles voluntarily participated in the tournament.

The finals featured teams from Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh playing against the scenic backdrop of the East Khasi Hills at Shillong's Laitkor Garrison.

The Sentinels Cup kicked off on June 30, 2024, at Lokra, Assam, with an opening ceremony inaugurated by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. Arunachal Pradesh emerged victorious in the final after a fiercely contested match against Assam Rifles that extended into extra time.
