Delhi Canal Breach Triggers Severe Waterlogging; Swift Response Reduces Impact

A breach in the Munak Canal led to severe waterlogging in JJ Colony, Bawana, and Northwest Delhi. Dewatering machines were deployed on Thursday night to remove the water. The breach occurred in the Career Lined Channel (CLC), part of the Western Yamuna Canal.
Flooding affected nearby areas, prompting Delhi LG VK Saxena to visit the site. The Delhi Jal Board's CEO confirmed that repairs were underway and expected to be completed by Friday evening.
LG Saxena advised the Chief Secretary to collaborate with the Water Minister and Flood Control Department to address the issue promptly with Haryana authorities. He also directed the CEO of Delhi Jal Board to ensure the canal's swift restoration.
NDRF teams evacuated affected residents, while the Irrigation and Flood Control Department used pumps to drain water. Boats were provided to NDRF as required. DUSIB was instructed to prepare relief measures, including shelter and basic services. The Disaster Management Cell was mobilized for relief efforts.
The Area District Magistrate deployed executive magistrates to oversee rescue and relief operations. (ANI)
