Raju Barman, the principal suspect in the murder of Bharat Ratna Sangha secretary Durga Prasad Deb, also known as Vicky, was extradited to the state on Thursday amidst heavy police security. The escort included West District Additional SP Chiranjib Chakraborty, SDPO NCC Subrata Barman, and Airport OC Abhijit Mondal, alongside a substantial police contingent, ensuring a secure transfer from the airport to Agartala.

Barman, the main accused in the violent murder of Vicky, who was a secretary of a social club in Ushabaza, Agartala, was detained by the state police's crime branch in Assam's Kamrup district. The arrest took place in Chata Bari under the jurisdiction of Bakul Police Station. Authorities had been tracking Barman, who had been evading capture since the incident.

West District SP Dr Kiran Kumar informed ANI that Barman was brought back on a transit remand from Assam. The operation to detain and transfer him was executed meticulously by the state police, marking a pivotal development in the Vicky murder investigation, which has shocked the community. Authorities are steadfast in their commitment to ensuring justice is served for this atrocious crime.
