The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) has been tasked with conducting a feasibility study for the proposed Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC). This 135-kilometer long corridor will parallel the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, linking Palwal in Haryana to Sonipat, and passing through Ghaziabad, Noida, and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.

Approximately 90 kilometers of the corridor will be located in Uttar Pradesh, with the remaining 45 kilometers in Haryana. The assignment to evaluate the feasibility of the project has been given by the Uttar Pradesh Government.

The announcement was made during the 28th HRIDC Board of Directors meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad, who also serves as the Chairman of HRIDC. Rajesh Agarwal, Managing Director of the Corporation, detailed various ongoing rail projects including a new rail line between Narwana and Uklana, and another chord line at Kurukshetra. Other significant projects include ongoing feasibility studies and the final location survey for the Karnal-Yamunanagar New Rail Line, which is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Railways.

Agarwal also revealed that the Railway Board has sanctioned a final location survey for the Farukhnagar-Jhajjar New Line, aimed at bolstering rail connectivity between IGI Airport Delhi and Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar. Additionally, HRIDC is studying the elevation of the Kaithal railway track, which includes modifications to the Kaithal Railway Station to eliminate three planned level crossings.

Furthermore, the KET Project, jointly funded by the Haryana Government and the Ministry of Railways, is nearing the completion of its viaduct construction and is slated for commissioning by August 1, 2024. The meeting was attended by numerous senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department Anurag Agarwal, and other key personnel from the Railway Board and HRIDC.
