On Thursday, a sub-branch of the Munak Canal suffered a breach in the Bawana region of North Delhi, causing floods in nearby areas. The breach occurred in the canal's Career Lined Channel (CLC), a crucial part of the Western Yamuna Canal.

Delhi's Water Minister, Atishi, took to X to inform the public about the incident. According to her, the Delhi Jal Board is working closely with the Haryana Irrigation Department to address the issue. Water was redirected to another sub-branch, with repairs expected to be completed by the afternoon. The breached section is anticipated to be operational by tomorrow.

In response to the situation, Delhi Flood Control Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj, visited the site and directed the Chief Engineer of the Flood Department to assist Delhi Jal Board officials. Bharadwaj assured that necessary support from the Flood Department would be provided.

Residents of JJ Colony, such as Alam, reported significant flooding, criticizing the administration for inadequate response. Bharadwaj emphasized that the Flood Department is well-prepared this year, with new machinery and a five-meter-wide rock embankment in place to prevent water from entering the city.
