Jakson Green, a nascent yet rapidly burgeoning Independent Power Producer (IPP), has taken a significant stride in its renewable energy endeavors by inking a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC, a state-owned entity. The agreement, which entails the supply of 400 MW solar power, marks a notable achievement for Jakson Green, as elucidated in a company statement on Wednesday.
Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Pvt Ltd, expressed his delight, stating, 'We are thrilled to embark on this agreement with NHPC, the first of many more to come. This 400 MW PPA, our largest to date, is a monumental achievement for Jakson Green.'
The Rajasthan-based project will connect to the central grid and is expected to generate clean energy sufficient to power around four lakh households annually while contributing to the elimination of nearly 752,000 MT/year of CO2 emissions. The competitive bidding process conducted by NHPC last year saw Jakson Green clinching the 400 MW capacity with a favorable tariff of Rs 2.53 per unit. The project is scheduled for commissioning within 24 months after signing the agreement.
