At least four people died after a pickup vehicle met with a road accident in West Bengal's Purulia, an official said on Friday. As per reports, the accident, which claimed the lives of four people and injured 10, happened on the Jamsedhpur Bokaro Highway near the Aimundi junction, which comes under the Purulia Muffasil Police Station.

The front tyre of the pickup van burst during travel and led to the accident, killing four onboard and injuring others. Police and locals reached the spot and helped in rescue operations. The injured were taken to the Purulia Government Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, four people, including the driver and the conductor of the Himachal Pradesh Road and Transport Corporation (HRTC), died after the bus met with an accident in Shimla district on Friday.

The mishap took place in the Kenchi area of Jubbal when the bus, which was en route to Kuddu-Diltari in the Rohru area of the Shimla district, fell off the mountain road into the gorge below. While two people died on the spot, the driver and the conductor succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital, he said.

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri have expressed their condolences to the families of victims of the bus accident. (ANI)
