Terming the revelations made by Kunwar Vijay Pratap as incriminating and damaging, BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar has demanded the strictest action against all those involved in patronising and shielding drug mafia to ruin Punjab's youth. "I would urge the Election Commission to take cognizance and initiate through investigation to ascertain names of those responsible including police officers for destroying Punjab by selling drugs", said Jakhar.

"Had the statement been made by someone else, people would have read political motive into it, but given Kunwar Vijay Pratap's credibility and background, the statement made by him in presence of Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal points to direct collusion of Raaghav Chadha and this must be probed so people of Punjab know what kattar imaandaars are doing in name of transformation," Jakhar said. Raghav Chadha, who like Vijay Mallya has now fled to London, Jakhar said referring to Kunwar Vijay Pratap directly naming him adding that Chadha's role in patronising the drug mafia must be investigated.

People of Punjab will punish them for wreaking havoc with the state's future, Jakhar added while replying to a media query after addressing a press meeting to announce the mass joining of leaders from Bathinda, Amritsar and Mansa into BJP. On being asked to comment on the stand of Balbir Singh Seechewal to not campaign for AAP, Jakhar said Seechewal ji knows the truth and he has no obligation like Bhagwant Mann to side with falsehood and chicanery of AAP. Kejriwal and his ilk are lying exposed today and their corruption has been unmasked, Jakhar added.

Taking on Congress and AAP over allegations of selling tickets, Jakhar said the people of Punjab know all this now and they will vote consciously for the BJP to ensure lasting peace and security in our state. "First AAP sold Rajya Sabha tickets to mortgage Punjab's aspirations and now it is Congress which is selling MP tickets and can't find any candidates on its own,' he added. Asking voters to exercise their right to vote freely and fairly, Jakhar urged for a vote against corruption and conspiracy to loot Punjab's resources by AAP in an unholy alliance with Congress. Only the BJP can safeguard Punjab's peace and development, Jakhar said adding that his duty to to ensure Punjab gets more benefits of national progress.

Taking a swipe at those against the composite culture of Punjab and wearing the sacred turban only when politically convenient, Jakhar said Punjabis will outrightly reject all these so-called Sikhs who question other's Punjabiyat and distribute certificates to people. "I am proud of my identity as a Punjabi and I am more of a devout Sikh than these opportunists," Jakhar said pointing out that no Punjabi true to state's name and legacy needs to prove it to anyone.

Leaders who joined BJP today include former Mansa Nagar Council head and District President BC Wing SAD Gurmel Singh Thekedar, sitting Councillor Mansa Kanchan Sethi, Vice president BC Wing Mansa SAD Jaswinder Singh Kaku along with dozens of Akali and Congress supporters. During the press conference, Jakhar was accompanied by ex-CPS and VP Punjab BJP S Jagdeep Singh Nakai, S. Gurpreet Singh Maluka, Convenor Amritsar Loksabha Rajbir Sharma, former CPS and President BC Morcha Punjab Bonny Ajnala, and DP BJP Mansa Rakesh Jain and Vaneet Joshi. (ANI)
