The Last Kingdom Season 4 was first announced via the series’ official Twitter handle in December 2018. The British historical fiction television series will be aired on Netflix with “a lot of surprises” and there can be a few alterations that can be possible because of previous cancellation.

The Last Kingdom Season 4 will have “a lot of surprises” as revealed by Arnas Fedaravičius (who plays Sihtric on the series) in an interview with Winter is Coming. But the actor is actually not allowed to reveal any specifics about what can be seen in the imminent season. Through his conversation, he said that “the battles are going to be a lot more detailed”. He also lauded the fight choreographers and the stunt team for the work they have been doing. According to him, the stunt team and the other related crewmembers (who are involved in the action sequences) are highly growing with the casts in their regular work on new battles.

The Last Kingdom Season 4 will have plenty of “twists and turns”, Arnas Fedaravičius revealed. The plot has taken storytelling to a new level, International Business Times reported. The actor also gave the credit to Netflix for these alterations. He revealed that the cast members would have to work with horses on the show and Alexander Dreymon (who plays Uhtred of Bebbanburg in The Last Kingdom) is the best rider.

As far as the casts members are concerned, Alexander Dreymon will obviously reprise his role has Uhtred in the imminent season consisting of 10 episodes, while other actors like Ian Hart, Toby Regbo, Timothy Innes, Eliza Butterworth, Emily Cox, Mark Rowley, Joseph Millson, Millie Brady, Magnus Bruun and Jeppe Beck Laursen will reprise their roles as Beocca, Aethelred, Edward, Aelswith, Brida, Finan, Aelfric, Princess Aethelflaed, Cnut and Haesten respectively.

On the other hand, some new faces will be seen in The Last Kingdom Season 4 as Netflix already confirmed Aethelred’s new love interest, Eadith to be played by Doctor Throne actress Stefanie Martini. now White and the Huntsman actor Jamie Blackley will be seen playing the role of Aethelred’s new right-hand man named Eardwulf. Filming has stopped now since July 19 as the cast has been on a summer break.

Here’s the official synopsis of The Last Kingdom Season 4 – “After the death of Alfred, the alliances between the kingdoms are fractured. Uhtred believes the timing is right to challenge his uncle Aelfric, played by Joseph Millson (Casino Royale, Banished), and take back his ancestral home, Bebbanburg. However, fate shifts in a different direction, leading Uhtred to realise that his destiny is tied to Alfred’s dream of a united land. This, and Uhtred’s feelings for Aethelflaed, drive him back into the politics that threaten to break out into war.”
