Soweto Gospel Choir to raise a concert in Kenya

Music aficionados in Kenya must be glad to learn that Soweto Gospel Choir is coming to this East African country this month.
Soweto Gospel Choir, the renowned South African gospel group, has a series of programmes or concerts in various places in Australia this month. Formed by two choir directors, David Mulovhedzi and Beverly Bryer, the renowned group is coming to Kenya to perform in August for the first time. They will be in the capital city, Nairobi for a concert on August 16. Their avid fans and followers in Kenya have already started grabbing tickets to attend this exciting concert of this several accolades-winning group.
Soweto Gospel Choir won the Best World Music Album award for their new recording Freedom at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Their previous albums Blessed and African Spirit also bagged in the Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album awards in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The group is severely honored for its amazing performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup final draw on December 4, 2009 in South Africa’s Cape Town. The ensemble also recorded and performed with the globally renowned rappers like Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, U2, Celine Dion, John Legend including several other superstars, as revealed by Business Daily Africa.
“The choir is thrilled to be performing in Kenya, especially as this will be their first visit. We can’t wait to learn more about Kenyan music and culture,” the executive producer and director of Soweto Gospel Choir, Beverly Byer opined.

The group performed at the first of the 46664 concerts for Nelson Mandela and also stole the hearts of global figures like Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, Desmond Tutu, Oprah Winfrey, the British Royal Family among the others.
