Avatar 2 and other sequels get new actors, Know more about deepwater scenes

The sequels to 2009’s superhit blockbuster movie Avatar – Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 – are currently underway. It’s true that James Cameron postponed the release of second sequel for several times since 2014 and finally he announced the release dates for all four sequels – December 18, 2020 for Avatar 2, December 17, 2021 for Avatar 3, December 20, 2024 for Avatar 4, and finally December 19, 2025 for Avatar 5.

Sci-fi enthusiasts will be glad to know that – Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – all the sequels have got a new cast. Michelle Yeoh, the renowned Malaysian actress has joined James Cameron’s much-awaited Avatar sequels as Dr. Karina Mogue. The 56-year old actress will be seen playing the role of a scientist. She rose to fame with frequent roles in 1990s Hong Kong action films. She received huge global acclamation for her roles in the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and the Chinese martial arts movies Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 2000.

“I am very very excited to be part of Avatar franchise and can’t wait to work with legendary James Cameron soon. ‘Throughout her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters,’ James Cameron opined. I look forward to working with Michelle to do the same thing on the ‘Avatar’ sequels.” This is what Michelle Yeoh posted in her official Instagram page.

Even Cameron has also given her an official warm welcome by taking to Twitter saying “Michelle Yeoh has been cast in the Avatar sequels as scientist Dr. Karina Mogue. Join us in welcoming her to the #AvatarFamily. However, details on her character is still under wraps. But judging by her name in the movie sequels, she seems to be the new scientist to study Pandora. There is no confirmation if she will be a pal of Neytiri and Jake (to be played by Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington respectively.

New updates state that Avatar 2 is going to focus on Pandora’s ocean and feature more of the rainforest. Titanic-director James Cameron wanted to capture footage for the sequel at the bottom of Mariana Trench using a deepwater submersible. On the other hand, Game of Thrones-actor, Brendan Cowell and Titanic-actress Kate Winslet will also be seen playing the roles of Captain Mick Scoresby and Ronal respectively.

The overall plots for all the sequels are still under wraps. However, the director earlier confirmed that all the sequels would include a significant amount of underwater scenes. Even, the previously presumed dead characters will also be back in the sequels.
