An agreement has been reached between the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Leh Frontier and Ladakh's cooperatives department to support local agricultural communities. The MoU focuses on guaranteed market access for farmers, cooperative societies, and farmer producer organizations (FPOs), addressing long-standing challenges in accessing profitable markets for their goods.
Under this pact, the ITBP will procure vegetables, dairy goods, and other essential supplies from local cooperatives and FPOs. This aligns with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s vision for military forces to purchase local produce and stimulate economic growth and self-reliance in border areas.
In light of increasing drug-related issues, Vinai Kumar Saxena has called for intensified measures, including random vehicle searches and stricter monitoring at strategic entry points and schools. A new helpline '112' will also be established for coordinated transport and rehabilitation support.
