Cultural Ties Strengthened: Modi & Kristersson Celebrate Tagore's Legacy

Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Ulf Kristersson commemorated Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore with special gifts reinforcing India-Sweden cultural ties. Kristersson gifted replicas of Tagore's epigrams, while Modi presented Tagore's collected works and a handcrafted bag. The exchange marks the centenary of Tagore's 1926 visit to Sweden.

In a gesture celebrating the cultural legacy of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Swedish counterpart, Ulf Kristersson, exchanged commemorative gifts on Sunday.

Kristersson presented Modi with replicas of hand-written epigrams by Tagore from his visits to Sweden in 1921 and 1926, along with a photograph from Tagore's 1921 visit to Uppsala University. These relics, recently uncovered in the Swedish National Archives, symbolize the profound cultural connection between the countries.

Meanwhile, Modi gifted a collection of Tagore's works alongside a handcrafted bag from Shantiniketan, reflecting Tagore’s belief in integrating art into everyday life. The exchange, coinciding with the centenary of Tagore's historic visit to Sweden, highlights the shared cultural and intellectual ties between India and Sweden.
