Prasoon Joshi Appointed as Chairman of Prasar Bharati
Renowned lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi has been named Chairman of Prasar Bharati, India's public broadcaster. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting lauded Joshi's extensive career in advertising, cinema, and literature. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed confidence in Joshi's ability to infuse Prasar Bharati with renewed vitality and creativity.
In a significant appointment, celebrated lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi has been named the Chairman of Prasar Bharati, India's primary public service broadcaster, as announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday. Known for his extensive work in films, advertising, and public messaging, Joshi now takes on the role to lead the Prasar Bharati Board.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, extended his congratulations to Joshi, highlighting the creative journey and cultural ties that mark his career. In an official press release, Vaishnaw remarked, "My heartfelt congratulations to Shri Prasoon Joshi ji on his appointment as Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board. Prasoon ji is a rare creative spirit celebrated across the world in advertising, literature, art, and cinema, yet his heart beats unmistakably for India."
Joshi, who has been serving as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) since 2017, is celebrated for his collaborative work with the film industry and his leadership in advertising. As Prasar Bharati continues to broadcast through All India Radio and Doordarshan, Joshi's stewardship is expected to introduce new energy and a fresh creative voice to the organization.
