Two tragic incidents unfolded in Kerala on Friday as elephants at temple events turned violent, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Authorities confirmed the fatalities, which occurred in Angamaly and Thrissur.
In Angamaly, a captive elephant became aggressive, attacking and killing the driver of the transport lorry, while seriously injuring its primary mahout. Despite efforts by the Forest Department's Elephant Squad, the creature wreaked havoc, overturning vehicles before being tranquilized and restrained.
Meanwhile, in Thrissur, another elephant killed its secondary mahout after turning violent, prompting police to investigate potential failings by the temple's managing devaswom. Both incidents are under scrutiny as authorities seek to prevent future occurrences.
