On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a noteworthy appearance at the wedding ceremony of a farmer's daughter in Haryana's Sonipat district. The visit carried particular significance, given Gandhi's initial meeting with the farmer, Sanjay, during an unexpected stop at Madina village in 2023.
During that visit, Gandhi joined Sanjay in the fields, where he listened to and witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by farming families. His presence at the wedding on Tuesday symbolized a fulfillment of his promise to stand by Sanjay's family through both joys and challenges. At the event, he was welcomed by Congress' Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda and other party dignitaries.
Sporting casual attire, Gandhi enjoyed traditional fare and engaged with the family and local villagers. In a mark of respect, the farmer's family even honored him by tying a turban on his head. The Congress shared a post on X highlighting the event, underscoring Gandhi's commitment to grassroots engagement even in a landscape where political figures often focus on affluent social events.
