V Shantha Kumari, the chief of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, articulated the distinct nature of feminism in India compared to its Western counterpart. She highlighted that Indian feminism prioritizes self-development and societal duties rather than competing with men.

In a conversation with PTI, Kumari explained that unlike Western feminism, which often involves comparisons with men, Bharatiya feminism focuses on recognizing and nurturing one's inherent qualities. The Indian perspective is not about emulating men but about enhancing one's own abilities and character.

According to Kumari, this approach fosters respect within society. She underscored the importance of women using their unique qualities to improve societal conditions and contribute to national development, thus connecting with the younger generation by promoting these values.
