The release of 'Citadel Season 2', starring Priyanka Chopra, has been delayed to spring 2026 as the spy series faces yet more challenges. Amazon MGM has expressed dissatisfaction with the current version, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, causing the postponement and a halt on all related spinoff projects.
The series was initially designed as a global franchise, branching out with international spinoffs like 'Citadel: Diana' from Italy and 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' from India. Although these spinoffs found success in their specific regions, further development is on standby until the completion of Season 2. The series has faced several hurdles, including costly reshoots for the first season, which ballooned its budget to $235 million.
Filming for the second season wrapped up in November 2023, but Amazon MGM insists on making additional changes to enhance the final product. Complicating matters, Jennifer Salke, former head of Amazon MGM who championed the Citadel project, has recently stepped down. Meanwhile, the show continues to engage audiences, with its first season featuring a star-studded cast including Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, and others, alongside Priyanka Chopra.
