In a swift humanitarian response, India has initiated 'Operation Brahma' to deliver crucial aid to Myanmar in the wake of a destructive earthquake that also impacted neighboring Thailand. The quake has claimed at least 144 lives in Myanmar, causing widespread destruction.

An Indian Air Force C130J aircraft transported 15 tonnes of relief materials to Yangon, including tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, solar lamps, generator sets, and essential medicines. Indian officials coordinated closely with Myanmar to ensure the timely delivery of aid.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that India stands as a 'First Responder,' with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing deep concern and readiness to assist both Myanmar and Thailand. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar is also engaging actively with the Indian community to offer support and coordination.
