Bollywood actor Salman Khan has come under fire from Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, for wearing a 'Ram Edition' watch, which he claims promotes the Ram Mandir. Razvi has declared the act as 'haram' or forbidden within Islamic law.
In a statement released on Friday, Maulana Razvi said that several inquiries had been made to him regarding the Islamic perspective on Khan's choice. Razvi noted that as a Muslim celebrity with a large following, Khan should avoid actions deemed un-Islamic.
The Maulana emphasized that such actions are against Shariat, and as a prominent Indian figure, Salman Khan should refrain from activities that are considered un-Islamic. He urged Khan to reflect and repent for his actions.
