Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday underscored the importance of national integration tours in fostering unity and inclusivity among students. These tours, he said, are vital to nation-building as they promote mutual respect and break stereotypes.
Speaking at the National Integration Tour Experience Sharing Programme 2025, Bhalla emphasized the role of these tours in shaping students' understanding of the country's diversity. He highlighted how firsthand experiences with different cultures and people can instill a sense of unity and appreciation for India's vast cultural landscape.
Bhalla also drew attention to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' programme, which seeks to strengthen national unity through enhanced interaction and understanding among people from different states and Union territories. He called for the expansion of similar programs, particularly through two-way exchanges with northeastern states, which he said would deepen national integration.
