In a poignant address to the Lok Sabha, BJP Member of Parliament Hema Malini underscored the pressing threat posed by 'deepfake' technology to the image and mental well-being of film industry celebrities.
Drawing attention during Zero Hour, Malini highlighted the dual-edged nature of artificial intelligence-driven technology. She pointed out that while there are benefits, the dark side of deepfakes targets those who have painstakingly built their public personas, leading to reputational damage and viral fake videos.
Malini further expressed concern over how social media platforms are being misused to launch personal attacks and spread manipulated narratives against public figures.
