Mizoram's Home Minister, K Sapdanga, underscored the urgent need for reformation within the state during a speech at the Mizo Journalists' Association conference in Champhai. He encouraged journalists to act as reformers, urging them to highlight administrative failings as well as successes.
Sapdanga, a former journalist, celebrated constructive criticism in newspapers and highlighted the vital role of traditional print media amidst the rise of digital platforms. He predicted a resurgence in the appreciation for written information.
MJA President C. Lalrambuatsaiha also spoke, advocating for the reunification of all ethnic Mizo tribes and encouraging perseverance and self-restraint among journalists in their careers.
