Delhi's Cultural Renaissance: From Festivals to Film Fest

The Delhi government has announced a transformative budget of Rs 139 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26 to enhance tourism and strengthen the cultural fabric of the city. The comprehensive plan nearly doubles last year's allocation of Rs 66 crore, with Rs 117 crore earmarked for various cultural schemes.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the ambitious projects in her budget speech, highlighting plans to host an international film festival to elevate Delhi's status as a cultural and film destination. This venture is allotted Rs 30 crore. Additionally, Rs 25 crore is set to boost tourism and branding, while a fellowship program and new tourist circuits are part of the grand vision for Delhi.
Furthermore, the government intends to launch boat tours on the Yamuna River via a Public-Private Partnership. Cultural commitments continue with an annual winter festival and a Talent Hunt Scheme, supporting artistic talent with a Rs 5 crore investment. Gupta also announced increased funding for the Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy, reflecting Delhi's vibrant cultural legacy.
