Preserving Maharashtra's Heritage: Archives Bhavan and Cultural Centre Unveiled

In a significant cultural initiative, the Maharashtra government will establish a dedicated 'Archives Bhavan' in Mumbai, according to Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, who made the announcement in the Legislative Council on Monday.
Located on a 6,691 square metre plot in Bandra East, the Maharashtra Archives Bhavan will preserve approximately 17 crore historical documents, including 10.5 crore in Mumbai. This initiative aims to make the Bhavan a hub for tourists, researchers, and scholars, akin to global archives.
In parallel, Shelar announced plans for a state cultural centre and museum in Mumbai. This complex will feature an auditorium, art gallery, research centre, and support for cultural activities. Set to attract both tourists and artists, it will house historical artefacts showcasing Maharashtra's history and culture.
