A controversial incident unfolded in Mumbai when a stand-up performance by comedian Kunal Kamra sparked violent reactions. Kamra's reference to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a 'traitor' incited a group led by Shiv Sena functionary Rahul Kanal to ransack the venue where Kamra performed.
The tumult occurred at the Habitat Comedy Club in the Khar area, leading to the arrest of Kanal and 11 others. Following their apprehension, a magistrate's court in Bandra granted bail, allowing their release on a cash bond.
Notably, the police have identified several individuals involved, initiating two separate offences—one against Kamra and the other against the vandals. The functionary Kanal emphasized the action was against disrespectful portrayal of elders, warning further actions in the future.
