BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi on Monday called for the closure of meat shops during the upcoming Navratri festival across the national capital. He expressed his intention to implement the measure at least in his Patparganj constituency.

Negi reflected on his tenure as a Nigam Parshad, asserting that he had previously advocated for similar actions. He recounted his past efforts, saying, "Even then, I demanded that at least the shops near temples should remain closed on Tuesdays and during Navratri."

As Navratri is a sacred festival for Sanatanis, Negi emphasized the need for businesses to respect the occasion by shutting meat shops. The MLA plans to formally write to the District Magistrate and other officials to enforce this practice. He criticized past administrations for disregarding Sanatani sentiments and is determined to see change.
