Tripura's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, assured the state Assembly of investigating issues within the settlement regarding the international cricket stadium construction. The assurance responded to Congress member Sudip Roy Barman's concerns over the High Court's demand, compelling the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) to pay Rs 25 crore in five days.
The payment dispute stems from a High Court order, directing the TCA to pay the construction firm Rs 25 crore of a total Rs 28 crore, citing cost escalation due to delayed construction. The remaining Rs 3 crore is to be settled by July. Roy Barman criticized the TCA's rapid agreement to the payment and urged the chief minister to challenge the court's ruling.
While the Chief Minister acknowledged the TCA's autonomy, he promised to review the matter. Meanwhile, TCA Secretary Subrata Dey emphasized the court's role in mediating the impasse, attributable to prolonged construction efforts at the Narsinghgarh site. Despite these challenges, no allegations of misconduct have emerged.
