Bicentenary of the 5th Rajput Regiment: Honoring Two Centuries of Valor

The 5th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment celebrates its 200th anniversary, commemorated by a special ceremony where a postal stamp was unveiled. The unit is recognized for its dedication, receiving four recent citations. Various events marked this achievement, showcasing the battalion’s enduring legacy and contributions to the Indian Army.

The 5th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment recently reached a historic milestone, celebrating 200 years of service to the Indian Army. Recognized for its exemplary dedication, the battalion has been honored with four consecutive citations, cementing its status as a bastion of bravery and duty.

To commemorate this significant anniversary, a special postal stamp was unveiled in a ceremony at the Delhi Cantonment by former Army Chief and current Governor of Mizoram, General (Retd.) V K Singh. The event highlighted the unit's longstanding contributions and its continuous service since 1825 when it was raised in Kanpur.

Celebratory events included the presentation of new Colours by Lt Gen M K Katiyar at the Cariappa Parade Ground and a tribute ceremony with veterans in Jammu and Kashmir. These activities celebrated the 'Prachand Paanch' battalion's rich heritage and the unwavering commitment of its members to the nation's defense.
