The Ajanta and Ellora Caves, renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Maharashtra, may soon see a surge in visitors during monsoon season if the latest tourism proposals are adopted. This vision was articulated by Mugdha Sinha, Director General of the Tourism Ministry, emphasizing the attractive greenery that blankets the region during the rains.
In line with this strategy, the Tourism Ministry aims to join forces with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University to establish a training program for tour guides, addressing current shortages. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance the sites' visitor appeal and infrastructure.
Additionally, plans to increase flight connectivity from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to key Indian cities and Buddhist countries are under consideration, potentially positioning it as a pivotal tourist hub. Connecting with cultural hubs like Udaipur and cities with Jyotirlinga temples is envisaged to boost regional tourism.
