The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has confirmed that Emmy-winning actor Alan Cumming will host the eagerly awaited BAFTA TV Awards this year. According to Deadline, the event, synonymous with celebrating the best of British television, is scheduled for Sunday, May 11.

Cumming, acclaimed for his roles in productions like 'The Good Wife', 'Golden Eye', and 'Spy Kids', is anticipated to infuse the ceremony with his signature humor and charm. Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards & Content at BAFTA, shared her enthusiasm for Cumming's role, stating, "He will definitely bring a playful sense of mischief and fun to the ceremony, so audiences should expect the unexpected at Britain's biggest celebration of TV," according to Deadline.

The nominations are set to be revealed soon, with popular series such as 'Baby Reindeer', 'Mr Bates vs the Post Office', and 'The Traitors' UK predicted to earn nods. Cumming's engagement marks the second time this year that a Scottish actor will lead a BAFTA event, after 'Doctor Who' star David Tennant hosted the film awards.
