In a recent parliamentary session, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced that the birthplaces of iconic poets Amir Khusro and Tulsidas remain unprotected under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
These sites, located in the Etah Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh, have not been included in any preservation plans despite the poets' significant cultural impact. Khusro and Tulsidas are celebrated for their literary works that continue to resonate with audiences today.
The lack of recognition raises concerns about preserving the nation's literary heritage, although currently, there is no proposal to develop or declare these sites as national heritage monuments.
