On the inaugural day of the Budget session, the Delhi Assembly commended the Indian cricket team for securing the Champions Trophy title and hailed NASA astronaut Sunita Williams for her safe return to Earth after a notable nine-month tenure at the International Space Station.
India etched its name in history by clinching the Champions Trophy for the third time, triumphing over New Zealand in the final match on March 9. Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta extended heartfelt congratulations to Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and his teammates for this landmark achievement, while also expressing gratitude toward ICC Chairman Jay Shah for successfully orchestrating the tournament.
The assembly also acknowledged the safe return of astronaut Sunita Williams, alongside her fellow astronauts, from their prolonged mission, despite challenging conditions in space. Gupta praised their courage and recognized the commendable efforts of NASA in ensuring their safe homecoming.
