Vibrant Traditions: Sujanpur Tira's Historic Holi Festival Commences

The historic Holi festival in Sujanpur Tira, launched by Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, celebrates tradition with cultural events. Originating in the early 19th century, the festival attracts thousands annually. Sukhu inaugurated several projects and commended efforts in promoting local products during the three-day celebration.

In a vibrant kick-off to one of the most historic festivals in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the national Holi festival in Sujanpur Tira. Held in the famous Chaugan, a significant cultural venue since the early 19th century, the festival was originally started by Raja Sansar Chand Katoch.

Known for being a patron of art and culture, Raja Katoch established this festival in what was once the capital of the Katoch dynasty. Today, thousands flock to Sujanpur Tira each year to experience a lively blend of tradition and festivities unique to this region.

During the event, Chief Minister Sukhu participated in a ceremonial puja at the Murli Manohar temple, praised local women's self-help groups for their role in promoting local products, and laid the foundation for several development projects worth Rs 43.64 crore in the constituency.
