Gifts and Diplomacy: Modi's State Visit to Mauritius
Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a two-day state visit to Mauritius, emphasized the cultural ties between the two nations by presenting an array of meaningful gifts to the Mauritian president and first lady. Gokhool was presented with holy water from the Mahakumbh, encased in an elegantly crafted brass and copper pot.

Highlighting India's rich cultural heritage, Modi also gifted a Banarasi saree in a traditional Sadeli box to Brinda Gokhool. This exquisite piece, celebrated for its intricate brocade and opulent zari work, was complemented by a Sadeli box from Gujarat—a reflection of India's craftsmanship.

The visit included a tree-planting ceremony with Mauritius' Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. Modi received a ceremonial welcome, marking the deep-rooted relations between the two nations, as highlighted by Randhir Jaiswal, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson on social media.
