A tragic discovery was made on the Churdhar Trek in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district when officials found the mutilated body of a youth in a snow-covered gorge, raising concerns about trekking safety.

Local volunteers identified the body as potentially belonging to Akshay Sahani, a 28-year-old resident of Panchkula, Haryana, who had been missing since February 26. The grim discovery was near the Lord Shiva statue along the trek route, the last known rest point.

Despite rigorous search efforts by the State Disaster Response Force and expert mountaineers, harsh weather had foiled rescue missions. The body is being taken to Sangrah for a post-mortem examination while his family travels to confirm the identity.
