Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his two-day state visit to Mauritius by meeting with President Dharam Gokhool, presenting him with Gangajal from the Maha Kumbh Mela.

The visit marks Modi's return to Mauritius after a decade, reflecting strengthening ties between the nations. In addition to his meeting with President Gokhool, he engaged in a sapling-planting ceremony alongside his Mauritian counterpart, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden.

The ceremonial welcome bestowed upon Modi signifies the robust relationship between India and Mauritius, as noted by Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Modi's itinerary also includes a state lunch with the Mauritian leadership, further cementing the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
