Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj took charge as the jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib on Monday in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, amidst a ceremonial gathering of 'Panj Piaras' (five beloved ones) of Takht.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), on March 7, officially appointed Kuldeep Singh Gargaj to this prestigious role, succeeding Giani Raghbir Singh, who was removed from the position.
This decision sparked criticism from Sikh and political leaders, including Shiromani Akali Dal's Bikram Singh Majithia. In his first address, Gargaj urged the Sikh community to unite and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
