The ancient murals of Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple are being meticulously restored to revive their original grandeur and cultural significance. The initiative, spearheaded by the Travancore Devaswom Board and Vasthuvidya Gurukulam, aims to enhance the murals' aesthetic appeal while maintaining their historical authenticity.

Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan shared a progress update on the project through a Facebook post. He highlighted that these murals, considered masterpieces of Kerala's artistic heritage, provide significant insights into Dravidian mural art. The restoration project emerged due to the previously neglected state of the murals.

Among the standout artworks is the Ananthasayanam mural, renowned for its scale and depth. Previously defaced sections, such as those depicting the Gopikas, are being carefully restored. This effort is part of a larger initiative to renovate all prominent murals, supported by a Rs 54-lakh budget, underscoring the global value of these historic art pieces.
