Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his two-day visit to Assam on Monday by attending a spectacular Jhumoir dance performance featuring nearly 9,000 dancers and drummers. Held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, the event celebrated 200 years of Assam's tea industry and the cultural heritage of its tea tribe community.

The 'Jhumoir Binandini' program attracted notable attendees, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and heads of missions from around 60 countries, putting Assam's vibrant cultural traditions on the global stage.

In his address, Modi, drawing from his past experiences as a tea seller, spoke of Assam's intrinsic link to tea. He remarked on the global ambassadors present, suggesting that they would carry Assam's tea flavors back to their countries, thus becoming unofficial brand emissaries for the region.
