Vinod Kapri's latest film, 'Pyre', an evocative narrative rooted in the heart of Uttarakhand, is set to premiere at the prestigious 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival. The movie, celebrated as a tender tribute to persistent love in a fading community, received acclaim following its world debut at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, where it bagged the Audience Award.

The Hindi film 'Pyre' draws from a real-life encounter Kapri had in 2017 with an elderly couple in Munsyari, Uttarakhand. Their enduring love story impacted him profoundly, inspiring the creation of the film. Cast with local talents, Padam Singh, a former Indian Army soldier, and Hira Devi, a farmer, both inexperienced in acting, the film brings authenticity to the screen.

Initially considering veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, Kapri later realized that casting genuine local voices would do greater justice to the narrative. As the film garners international attention, with lyricist Gulzar adding to its artistic depth, its creators plan to introduce it to Indian audiences after touring prominent festivals worldwide.
