A fireworks accident occurred early Friday morning at the Muchiriyan temple, leaving five people injured, including a 12-year-old child, according to local police reports.
One of the individuals is in critical condition and has been transferred to a hospital in Mangalore for urgent medical treatment.
The mishap took place around 4 am when a firecracker, expected to detonate in the air, descended into the crowd, causing injuries. Attendees had gathered to witness a Theyyam performance at the temple in Azheekode Neerkavu. Valapattanam police have launched an investigation into the incident.
