Nezha 2 Surpasses Pixar to Shatter Global Animated Box Office Records

Nezha 2 has become the highest-grossing animated film globally, surpassing Pixar's Inside Out 2. With earnings of 12.3 billion yuan, it is the eighth highest-grossing film overall. Predominantly successful in China, the film is based on a classic novel and directed by Yang Yu, known as Jiaozi.

In a major cinematic achievement, Chinese animated film Nezha 2 has overtaken Pixar's Inside Out 2 to become the top-grossing animated film worldwide, according to Maoyan data. The film has earned a staggering 12.3 billion yuan, marking it as the eighth highest-grossing film globally.

Notably, over 99% of Nezha 2's earnings are from mainland China, differentiating it from typical Hollywood movies that depend on global distribution. The film is a continuation of the 2019 hit, Nezha, inspired by the 16th-century novel 'The Investiture of the Gods', featuring a magical hero defending a fortress town.
