The National Cadet Corps is gearing up for a historic venture as they plan an expedition to the world's tallest peak, Mt Everest, later this year. Preparations are actively underway at Siachen Battle School as a team of cadets readies itself for the challenge.
According to NCC Director General, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, a diverse team of 16 cadets, equally split between boys and girls, is currently in training. From this group, a select few will be chosen to scale the celebrated mountain, a task that draws inspiration from legendary climbers Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
The NCC has a rich history of mountaineering achievements, including past expeditions to peaks like Mt Kang Yatse II and Mt Abi Gamin. These experiences are viewed as critical milestones as they build towards the Everest mission slated for 2025, a step showing the Corps' continued commitment to high-altitude training and adventure.
